Version 2.1.8, for all Purple Iris Design templates, is now available in the download area. If you purchased a Single Template or Designer's Subscription, login then click on the My Downloads link to find the latest update.
The templates administration area was a bit slower in loading than we like, when using Firefox. Firefox has been working on an update but we've rewritten some of the template code to make them load in less than half the previous time. The highlights of this version are:
- Further optimized backend to improve loading on Firefox/all browsers.
- Font previews in drop-downs.*
- Font Size previews in drop-downs.*
- Font Style previews in drop-downs.*
- Changed Page Class Suffix wording to Theme.
- Improved backend layout to boost usability/understanding of activatable parameters.
- Various other minor changes.
* Works best on Firefox to a lesser extent on Chrome, Safari and others. To update simply install the new 2.1.8 package. You don't need to uninstall older template packages as the installer will automatically update old templates, preserving your custom themes, or install if you haven't installed before. |

Something I hear a lot these days is Content Management Systems, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress etc., are great but there is one big problem, every page of your website ends up looking the same. This dilemma is because the templates used by content management systems have predefined placeholders.
Since we don't believe in limits to creativity here at Purple Iris Design, we fixed the issue with our new Theme Tool, found in all Generation 2 templates. This tool provides full template parameter setting on a page by page basis. Combined with our second to none template parameter system the only thing standing in the way to styling every page of your site, is your imagination.
Creating a new theme:
- Open the Purple Iris template you wish to edit, then look for the text field labeled Save Theme As.
- Once located, triple click or sweep the contents of the Save Theme As field and type a name for your new Custom Theme.
- Save or Apply and your new Custom Theme will be created.
Note: Custom Themes appear under the tab labeled Custom Themes. The Custom Themes tab will only appear when you have created a Custom Theme, so on an intial install there will be no Custom Themes tab. It is also important to note that the name of the currently loaded Theme is what will appear in the Save Theme As field. The functionality of this field is similar to how Save As works, on a computer.
Edit a theme:
- Locate the name of the Theme you wish to make changes to and click on its name.
- Once the Theme's parameters have been loaded you can begin making changes.
- Save or Apply and your theme changes will be saved.
Note: The currently loaded theme will have a purple bar around it as well as its name will be the value of the Save Theme As field.
